BES Africa is a trusted independent partner for Coal Mineral Survey services across Africa. We provide precise quality verification, representative sampling, and transparent reporting for bulk mineral commodities — giving buyers, sellers, and financiers the confidence they need in every transaction. Our inspectors are deployed at loading ports, discharge terminals, and stockpile locations across Morocco and the wider African continent — we combine deep technical expertise with a fully integrated management system certified to ISO 9001:2015 (Quality), ISO 14001:2015 (Environment), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health & Safety) to deliver results you can trust.

What Our Coal Mineral Survey Service Includes

  • Representative Sampling — We apply ISO/ASTM sampling standards to ensure that samples collected truly represent the bulk cargo. Systematic increment sampling throughout loading or discharge operations, combined with correct sample reduction techniques, eliminates sampling bias and delivers reliable analytical results.
  • Coal Quality Analysis — For coal shipments, we verify calorific value (GCV/NCV), total moisture, inherent moisture, ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon, sulfur content, Hardgrove Grindability Index (HGI), and size grading. Each parameter is assessed against purchase contract specifications to confirm compliance.
  • Iron Ore and Mineral Analysis — For iron ore, manganese, bauxite, and other metallic minerals, we verify grade (Fe%, Mn%, Al₂O₃ etc.), moisture content, particle size distribution, and the presence of deleterious elements — providing the independent quality certificate that trading contracts and letters of credit require.
  • Weight and Quantity Verification — We determine cargo weights through draft survey for vessel shipments, or through belt weigher witnessing, stockpile volumetric survey, or truck weighbridge monitoring for land-based operations. Accurate weight documentation is fundamental to fair trade settlement.
  • Stockpile Survey and Volume Estimation — For minerals held in stockpile, BES Africa conducts volumetric surveys using surveying instruments to estimate tonnage. Combined with bulk density determination, this provides an accurate stockpile inventory figure for financing or sale purposes.
  • Loading and Discharge Monitoring — Our inspectors attend bulk loading and discharge operations to observe and document the process, note any segregation issues, identify quality variations between different parcels, and confirm that the cargo matches shipping documents.

Why Independent Mineral Inspection Matters

Bulk mineral trades involve large cargo values and thin margins — even a 1% variation in iron content or calorific value can translate into significant price adjustments. Independent, third-party quality certification removes subjectivity from trade settlement, resolves disputes before they reach arbitration, and provides the documented evidence that banks and insurers require. BES Africa operates under our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, ensuring that every inspection is conducted, documented, and reported to a consistent, auditable standard.

Our Coal Mineral Survey Process

  1. Pre-inspection planning — We review vessel details, cargo specifications, sampling requirements, and contractual obligations before mobilizing.
  2. On-site sampling during loading/discharge — Systematic increment samples are collected throughout the operation following the applicable ISO or ASTM standard.
  3. Sample preparation and dispatch — Collected samples are prepared (crushed, divided, and sub-sampled) following ISO procedures and dispatched to an accredited laboratory with full chain-of-custody documentation.
  4. Weight verification — Draft surveys or other weight determination methods are performed and documented.
  5. Reporting and certification — A comprehensive inspection certificate including quality results, weight figures, and condition observations is issued to all parties.
